Adam J. Moore

Your Personal Tour Guide in Charleston, South Carolina.

My name is Adam J. Moore and I am a licensed tour guide with the City of Charleston and part of the Palmetto Guild for accredited tour guides.

Adam Moore Charleston Palmetto Guild Certified Tour Guide

I graduated from the University of South Carolina with a business & history degree (Go Gamecocks!). After that I left Columbia, SC and moved to Charleston, SC in 2005 and I live just a few miles away from downtown on James Island.

I like to keep my tours smaller so that they are more personal and I pride myself on being friendly, factual and a great storyteller. I still actively pursue our history so that I can provide my guests with a unique experience that they will never forget.

Adam Moore Best of the Best Tour Guide

Make it stand out

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

  • “Our guide, Adam, was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and interactive. This was the best ghost tour we've taken in 10 yrs, None of the silly, frilly junk we've seen on tours lately. Just great stories in dark places. I surely recommend.”

  • My family and I did the historical ghost tour with Adam and had THE BEST time!!!! Adam was very professional and extremely knowledgeable about the history of Charleston and the ghosts that still haunt the area. We have done a number of ghost tours in various cities around the US and this was by far our favorite! We recommend this tour to anyone in the Charleston area and look forward to getting back to Charleston for another tour!!”

  • “History & Hops Tour, Adam and captain Bryan we’re both great tour guides! Very friendly and knowledgeable and we appreciated the breadth of their tour- we got broad history as well as some specific stories about the region and characters. The bars were great and they were knowledgeable about the local beer selections. We also appreciated that they didn’t shy away from the darker aspects of the area’s history, namely the undeniable fact that the area was built on the backs of slave labor. Highly recommend.”

  • “Adam is an amazing tour guide! He is extremely knowledgeable about the history of both the city of Charleston and the state of South Carolina. It wasn’t just names and dates, either: he has great stories and takes you to the places where they actually happened. He helps history come alive. And he has great recommendations for bars and restaurants! Cannot say enough good things about him and his tours. Highly recommended.”

  • “Ghost Tour In The Rain & Lightning

First, the tour was great, and the many other excellent reviews are where to go for getting an idea of what to expect. This review is for what happens when a thunderstorm brings a downpour big enough to flood Market Street and lightning flashes around you just minutes after your tour begins and doesn't let up.

Our guide was Adam - a history major and lover - and before I get to how great he was with his knowledge, curiosity and respect for Charleston's long (and bloody) history, I have to say having someone remain pretty chill during a thunder and lightning storm was very effective for our California family who's first instinct was to call a Lyft and bolt.

When the sprinkles of rain as we stood on the cobbled street in the oldest part of Charleston turned more torrential, Adam quickly but calmly moved us to the covered front of the Bethel Methodist church across the street. He continued the stories relevant to that block (always starting with nicely detailed true history through a natural story-tellers' pace and inflections, before capping with the ghost lore). When it became apparent, only 40 minutes into our 90-minute tour, that the storm was only getting worse, he kept us there but not without our rapt attention as he continued with more ghost stories - stories about pirates, about heroes like Robert Smalls, and other tales of historical interest from pre-revolution up through post-civil war - and we didn't feel like we were missing a thing.

I highly recommend the tour, I highly recommend Adam, and if the weather looks unpredictable, I highly recommend continuing with it. It's the best way to spend a dangerous evening!”
